How Long Does the Design Process Typically Take?

The timeline for our design process can vary significantly based on the complexity and scale of your project. Here is a general overview:

For large custom homes or complex projects requiring resource consent, engineering, or collaboration with multiple external consultants, the timeline can be extended. In some cases, where multiple approvals are needed (e.g., resource consent, design board approval, council consent), the consent process alone may take several months in addition to the design and detailing phases.

Our typical design process includes the following stages:

Initial Concept: 4-6 weeks
Refinements to Concept: 2 weeks
Pricing Plans: 2 weeks
Working Drawings: 4-6 weeks
Post Council Lodgement RFIs: 2 weeks (this may extend significantly for complex projects with multiple consultants involved)

How Do You Handle Budget Constraints?
